Haliburton Guitar Studio – November Updates

Hello HGS Students,

Hope you are all having a lovely fall! Just a few updates, bits of news, and one day of absence (on my part) as we head into November.

Studio Scheduling

The studio is currently fully booked, meaning all available teaching times are spoken for. If you can't make your regularly scheduled lesson, let me know and I'll do my best to find another spot for you that week. However, flexibility is limited and depends on other students' cancellations or missed lessons.

Sunday Zoom Lessons

I've moved all my Zoom lessons with international students to Sundays. The Wi-Fi connection in the teaching studio doesn't seem to be strong enough anymore to support dependable video calls. Thankfully, my home-office setup on Sundays is fantastic, and the Wi-Fi is STRONG!

Winter Student Performance Night

I've started putting the bug in people's ears about another Winter Performance Night at Castle Antiques! We haven't settled on a date just yet, but if this is something you'd be interested in participating in, please let me know.

Last year we had around twelve wonderful performances featuring music of all styles, played solo or accompanied by me. We even had a few last-minute collaborations. Lots of fun!

Winter Folk Camp – March 5–8

I won't be teaching at the Haliburton County Folk Society's Winter Folk Camp this year, but I've shared the stage with almost all of the current teachers and can certainly recommend checking it out!

The camp takes place March 5–8 at Camp Wanakita.

Fleming College – Summer Guitar Intensive

I'll be teaching again this summer at Fleming College's Haliburton School of Art + Design. The tentative course is titled Creative Guitar Improvisation, running June 21–25. More details to come as things are finalized!

A Little Sculpture Forest News

I've recently stepped into the role of Curator of the Haliburton Sculpture Forest! It's a real honour, and I'm very much looking forward to helping direct the Forest and its programming for years to come.

A few people have asked whether this will affect my teaching schedule. Rest assured, it won't! I am, however, looking forward to supporting and developing lots of performing arts programming at the Sculpture Forest in the coming years.

November Absences

I'll be away from the studio on:

  • November 1

And... that's it for November!

As always, it's a genuine joy to support so many wonderful people, both locally and afar, in their musical path.

Happy playing, everyone!
